Terms of service and sale
Last updated
These terms cover the Geo Hound Chrome extension and the sale of assistant credits. By installing the extension or buying credits, you agree to them.
Who you are dealing with
Geo Hound is published and sold by SELLER_NAME_PENDING, a MapScaping business. Contact details are on the support page.
The developer is the seller, not Google. Google operates the Chrome Web Store where the extension is listed, but plays no part in the sale of credits. Credits are sold directly by us, and payments are processed by Stripe.
The extension
Geo Hound is free to install. The detector and the workbench are free to use, with no account and no time limit.
It is provided as is. We do not guarantee it will detect every service, that any given service will load, or that it will be free of faults. We may change or discontinue features.
You are responsible for how you use the data you find. Geo Hound detects services your browser has already loaded on pages you visited. It does not bypass authentication or access controls. The data behind a public map belongs to whoever published it, and their terms of use, licensing, and attribution requirements apply to you, not to us. Check them before you use, redistribute, or publish anything.
What a credit is
- 1 credit is 1 question. A credit is deducted when you send a question to the assistant.
- The assistant's own tool steps are free. If answering your question takes fifteen tool calls, the question still costs one credit.
- You are charged for asking, not for answering. The credit is spent when the question is sent. If you stop the assistant part way through its reply, the credit is still spent.
- If the assistant fails because our provider was unreachable or returned an error before replying, the credit is automatically returned to you.
Everyone gets up to 10 free questions per calendar month, which reset at the start of each month. Free questions are used before any credits you have bought.
The free allowance is a ceiling, not a guarantee: to stop one person creating unlimited free questions, free questions are also limited per network address, pooled across devices. Several people sharing one internet connection may get fewer free questions each than they would alone. Buying credits removes this entirely.
Buying credits
Credit packs are one-time purchases. There is no subscription, nothing renews, and there is nothing to cancel.
Payment is processed by Stripe on a Stripe-hosted page. We never see or handle your card details.
Purchased credits never expire. Your balance stays until you spend it.
Credits are a licence to use the assistant. They are not money, they have no cash value, they cannot be transferred to another person, and they cannot be exchanged for cash.
Restoring your balance
Your credits are held against a random identifier your browser generates. They are also anchored to the email address you bought with, so you can move them.
To move a balance to a new computer or a fresh install: open the workbench chat, choose Restore purchases, enter your purchase email, and we email you a six-digit code. The code expires after ten minutes, allows five attempts, and you can request at most three codes an hour.
Restoring moves your balance. It does not copy it: the old install's balance is merged into the new one.
If you clear your browser profile and no longer have access to your purchase email, we cannot identify your balance.
Refunds
We offer full refunds. Ask us at the address on the support page.
Two things to be clear about, because they surprise people:
- A refund removes the credits that purchase granted. Refunding a pack claws back the credits it added. If you have already spent some of them, your balance simply goes to zero. It never goes negative, and we do not bill you for the shortfall. But the credits you already used are not returned to you: you get the money back, and you keep the answers you already received.
- A refund reverses the whole purchase. Refunds are handled per purchase, so a refund removes all the credits from that purchase, not a proportion of them.
Statutory rights that apply where you live are not affected by any of this.
Acceptable use
Do not use the assistant to try to break, overload, or extract our systems or the AI provider's, and do not use Geo Hound to access data you are not permitted to access.
We may suspend access to the assistant where we see abuse, such as attempts to manufacture free questions. If we suspend a paid balance without cause, we will refund it.
Liability
To the extent the law allows, we are not liable for indirect or consequential loss, and our total liability to you is limited to what you have paid us in the twelve months before the claim.
The assistant is a tool, not an expert. It carries out GIS operations you ask for, and it can misunderstand you or get an answer wrong. Check the result before you rely on it for anything that matters. Do not treat its output as professional advice, a survey, or a legal boundary.
Changes
We may update these terms. The date at the top changes when we do, and material changes will be flagged in the product rather than made quietly.
